Rights and Licenses

Rights

Carolina was developed to convert Base SAS® code to Java. You are free to use Carolina in any fashion you wish, consistent with the license agreement you have selected and affirmed with us, provided that you do not in any way infringe upon SAS Institute’s intellectual property or contractual rights or those of any other software vendor. (We are not suggesting that any contractual relationship you or your organization may have with SAS Institute Inc. would somehow be altered through your use of Carolina.) As a practical matter, you will want to be sure that you haven’t signed away to SAS® the ability to write SAS® code and use it any way you like (i.e., that you retain the right to generate plain text files outside of SAS that comply with Base SAS grammar and syntax, and convert them to something else). This would be highly unlikely (for example, Microsoft owns MS Word, but does not attempt to control the use of the text files one generates in Word), but better to be safe than sorry. A contract is a contract. DullesOpen.com and Dulles Research LLC strongly support all intellectual property rights and contractual rights of SAS Institute and any other entity.

Licenses

Carolina licenses are straightforward and available here for you to download, should you wish to evaluate them or discuss them with colleagues. There are three different license agreements:
